After the Dallas Stars opened the scoring on the power play courtesy of an Adam Lowry goalie interference penalty, the forward got out of the dog house quickly. Lowry scored exactly a minute after the Stars took the lead to get the Winnipeg Jets on the board, en route to a 5-1 win.
"You never like to see yourself put your team down a man and them score on it. I thought we had a real strong first so to come out early and put us down. It was kind of nice to redeem myself and kind of get us going," said Lowry.
"I try and play a real disciplined game. I try and play hard and fair. I try to stay out of the box as much as I can," said Lowry.
Outside of the penalty, the Lowry, Mathieu Perreault and Brandon Tanev unit had another solid night with the line going a combining for seven shots and 10 hits.
"I think every line on our team kind of brings something different," said Lowry.
"We have two wingers who are really tenacious on the puck. They create a lot of second chances, a lot of hurried passes and pucks that get on the wall we are able to bat some things down and create zone time."
For head coach Paul Maurice, he counts on a consistent effort night after night from Lowry and whomever his wingers are.
"Some nights they play against the other team's best and some nights against their best grinders and still, they find a way," said Maurice.
"Matty Perreault found himself a nice niche there. The (first Jets) goal is he goes in heavy on the forecheck and he's on the body and it's a rim puck and we keep it in and it's in the net. They've been consistent. I'm glad. They need to score to right? They play that hard that consistently you need to have a payoff for it above everybody tapping you on the pads and saying great game."
