I started out by heading to Carman for their annual Country Fair Parade. Parades are among my favourite summer events. While I usually bring the Jets truck with me for a sweet ride, I was lucky enough to have the Town of Carman invite me to join them on the town's float. So I left the truck at home and traveled out there on my own four hooves.
I had a great view on the Town of Carman float and got to make a lot of new friends and hand out hockey cards during the parade. I was even given a tour of the town, and was told all about the rest of the events at the Carman Country Fair, including the demolition derby which happened later that afternoon. Let's just say that the Jets are lucky I didn't bring the truck that weekend, because not having a vehicle was the only thing that stopped me from joining in the fun. Something tells me the paint job wouldn't have looked quite as fresh after taking a spin in the derby!
Later in July, I continued my annual tradition of attending the Manitoba Stampede parade in Morris. Though moose aren't on the same family tree as horses and bulls, I couldn't help but feel at home with all the hooves and horns in town. And, it was great to be back to visit with the amazing fans that I had met at the Jets Town Takeover in March. After the parade I had a bit of time to watch some of the stampede itself - what a show! From bull riding to steer wrestling, there are so many unique events there. My favourite, though, was the chuckwagon races. I get to watch Nikolaj Ehlers rip around the ice at breakneck speed quite regularly, but I'll bet those horses could give him a run for his money!
Though it's going to be tough to follow up such a fun-filled July, August looks like it has all the makings of another amazing summer month! And while the events are always a good time, they wouldn't be half as exciting without all the people there. So make sure you come out to some of these great Manitoba events in August, and be sure to give me a high-five when you see me there:
- Travis Price Classic Golf Tournament - Monday, August 19
- Morden Corn and Apple Festival - Saturday, August 24
- Ribfest 2019 - Saturday, August 24
