GIVING UP GAME'S FIRST GOAL
Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia the Jets gave up the game's first goal for the seventh consecutive contest. It hasn't necessarily hurt them as the Jets have gone 4-3 over that stretch but it isn't exactly the best thing to happen considering they are 20-8-1 when scoring first. As the game get tighter down the stretch it will serve them better to tighter in their own end to start.

"When we give up a goal on the first shot just on a misread off the rush," said Paul Maurice after the 4-2 loss to the Flyers.
"But at 1-0 through the first period, I like our chances better than theirs. I liked our second an awful lot."
MORRISSEY GETS ONE
Josh Morrissey ended a 19 game goal scoring drought when he got the Jets on the board at 18:04 of the second period in Philly. The Calgary product is still has 18 games left in the season to break his career high of seven goals set in the 2017-18 season.
STILL IN A GOOD PLACE
One loss aside the Jets still find themselves in a playoff position and they are 6-3-1 in their last ten games. Confidence is still there especially since they don't have much time to think about the loss to the Flyers playing right away in Buffalo. The Jets and Sabres have yet to meet this season, Buffalo is coming off a win over Pittsburgh on home ice on Saturday yet still are 10 points out of the postseason in the East.
ANOTHER NEW FACE
For the second time in three games the Jets will welcome a new player to the dressing room in new forward Cody Eakin who was acquired on Friday in a trade from Vegas for a conditional draft pick in 2021. Maurice said he will start the Winnipeg product at centre and go from there.
"I think we've made some good moves for the team and something we need for the playoff push," said Patrik Laine.
"Hopefully they (Dylan DeMelo and Eakin) can spark this team a bit and get kind of on a roll a little bit and make the playoffs."
WHOEVER STARTS IN GOAL WILL BE FINE
Both Connor Hellebuyck and Laurent Brossoit have been consistent in their play since the break. Hellebuyck's save percentage has been .912 or better in seven of his last nine starts since he was at the All-Star game in St. Louis. Meanwhile, Brossoit has been excellent in his last three starts going 2-1 and has a .939 save percentage over those three starts.
