The Kings earned another hard fought two points on Tuesday night. This time in Anaheim, the Kings won their second consecutive game by a score of 2-1. Nationally televised on ESPN, the Kings played their final game at Honda Center with longtime Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf in the lineup. Getzlaf, who has announced his retirement following the season will face the Kings once more on Saturday at Crypto.com Arena.
As for the game, Adrian Kempe opened the game's scoring 27 seconds into the second period with a beaming wrist shot off of an offensive faceoff draw won by Anze Kopitar. The Ducks evened the score 5:09 later on the power play with an Adam Henrique goal.
The game-winning goal 32 seconds into the third period came with some drama as the call on the ice originally was deemed no goal due to goalie interference when Phillip Danault put in a te round from a Viktor Arvidsson shot after Arvidsson made slight contact with Ducks goalie John Gibson outside of the crease. Risking a delay of game penalty, Todd McLellan challenged the call on the ice. After review, the call on the ice was overturned and Danault was awarded the goal.
