As you reach your 1,000th career point, I can't help but think about how far your life and career has come since you were a young boy growing up in Slovenia. To achieve another great accomplishment in a career that has been so outstanding brings me so much pride and joy as your father.
I grew up loving this game and to have my son grow up loving it as much as I did was exciting for me. Your passion for the sport was evident at a young age and you always had a smile on your face and just loved being at the rink.

As you grew older, I admired how you always competed with a great respect for the game and playing it the right way. Even at the earliest age, you set a great example for your teammates and became a leader throughout your career by your actions and treating everyone as another brother.

I'm also proud of the example you set every day for your children and how you conduct yourself off the ice and share your time with the fans. You are earning your place in history with the Kings.
You were drafted in the first round at 18, debuted at 19, and the first Slovenian to ever make it to the NHL and continue there for well over a decade in itself is monumental. You have represented your family and your country with great distinction and have earned every accolade throughout your career.
I can't describe what an honor it has been to watch you win the first two Stanley Cup's in Kings history, taking Slovenia to the Olympics in Russia, all the individual awards, reaching over 1,000 games, and now to reach 1,000 points in the NHL. It all leaves me a bit speechless.

Every goal you reach is more impressive than the last and I couldn't be prouder of the man, son, husband, father, and player you have become. You have worked hard to become the player you are and person who earned that name and the respect that comes along with it.
Congratulation on 1,000 points Anze, and to many more successes in your journey.
