Entering Tuesday night's gold medal game, Team Canada had outscored their opponents 41-4 and had yet to be truly tested. Loaded with 19 first-round draft picks, the Canadians had not even trailed in a second in the tournament.

As for Team USA, the red, white and blue squeaked out a late goal from Kings prospect Arthur Kaliyev with a minute remaining in the tightly contested battle against Finland to advance to the gold medal game.
With five Kings prospects in Tuesday's gold medal game (three for USA, two for CAN), it was no surprise that they played a large part in the games outcome. With 6:35 to go in the opening period, Alex Turcotte tipped in a point shot after a long shift in the offensive zone to put Team USA on the board, 1-0.

Team USA then doubled their lead just 28 seconds into the second period off a shot/pass from Arthur Kaliyev that ended on the backhand of Trevor Zegras who was able to get it past the Canadian goalie, 2-0.

That lead would not change the rest of the game as Team USA shut down Team Canada's scoring chances, leading to the American's fourth WJC gold medal since 2010, the most of any country in that span.

The Kings in total had six medalists, with Finland winning 4-1 in the bronze medal over Russia.
