The LA Kings have signed forward Adrian Kempe to a four-year contract extension worth an average annual value (AAV) of $5,500,000 through the 2025-26.
Kempe, 25, had a breakout year establishing career-highs in nearly every statistical category including goals (35), points (54), shorthanded goals (3), and game-winning goals (7). Since the 2003-04 season, just two other Kings have scored 35-or-more goals, with the most recent being captain Anze Kopitar in 2017-18. For his efforts, the 6-2, 205-pound forward was named to his first-ever NHL All-Star Game and voted Most Valuable Player by the Kings Booster Club. A key contributor in helping the Kings secure their first postseason appearance since 2018, Kempe led the team with six points (2-4=6) in seven playoff games.

Since being selected in the first round (29th overall) by the Kings in the 2014 NHL Draft, Kempe has gone on to appear in six NHL seasons and register 186 points (90-96=186) in 390 NHL games while adding six points (2-4=6) in 11 playoff appearances. Prior to the 2021-22 season, Kempe's NHL career-highs came in 2017-18 when he tallied 16 goals, 21 assists and 37 points.
Prior to joining the NHL ranks full-time, Kempe played parts of three seasons in the AHL with the Ontario Reign (2015-17) and Manchester Monarchs (2014-15), collecting 48 points (23-25=48) in 104 games and 16 points (12-4=16) in 35 playoff games. In the 2014-15 season, his first in North America, Kempe skated in three regular-season games with the Monarchs before tallying nine points (8-1=9) in 17 playoff games to help the Monarchs capture the Calder Cup. Before his move to North America, Kempe skated one season (2014-15) with MODO Hockey in the Swedish Hockey League, registering 17 points (5-12=17) in 50 games.
The Kramfors, Sweden native has represented Sweden in six International Ice Hockey Federation events, including three IIHF Men's World Championships (2018 - gold, 2019, 2021), two IIHF World Junior Championships (2015, 2016), and one IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship (2014). In 45 appearances with Sweden, Kempe has tallied 42 points (14-28=42).
