LA Kings Build Garden at the Weingart YMCA Wellness and Aquatic Center

On Wednesday, January 31st, the LA Kings teamed up with Enrich LA to build an entirely edible garden with the help of Blue Shield of California at the Weingart YMCA Wellness and Aquatic Center.
Enrich LA is a community wellness non-profit organization that builds edible gardens for youth and families. Focusing on low-income and underserved neighborhoods of Los Angeles, Enrich LA hopes to engage students in cultivating and appreciating eating simple, home-grown foods. This is the second garden the LA Kings have provided to the YMCA under the direction of Enrich LA, with three more slated in 2018.

LA Kings staff, including Public Address Announcer Dave Joseph, were on site at the YMCA to build and install the edible garden consisting of 13 beds and a fully functioning drip irrigation system!
To add to the extensive list of services offered by the YMCA, the Weingart YMCA Wellness and Aquatic Center chapter now has a fully functioning edible garden that will provide healthy food and programming for many years to come!
