Ryan-Biehl-LA-Kings-Hockey

El Segundo Strikers Goalie Ryan Biehl isn't just a normal high school kid. He learned to play hockey at age 11, then learned to fly planes shortly after at 12 or 13.
"He's a mature guy," teammate Ben Knepper said. "It takes a lot of responsibility to be a pilot, and that's what we need in our net. He's very composed."
Biehl was inspired by his grandpa, who worked on fighter jets in Vietnam, and later got his commercial license. He also found another role model in his LA Kings
High School Hockey League
coach, Chris Nelson.
"Him and I both flying, it's a great one-two punch. We can talk about hockey, we can talk about flying, we can talk about family life. He's a great kid," Nelson said.
In addition to being reliable on the ice, Biehl is also an active role model in the community.
"He's destined for success with whatever he does," Nelson said. "I hope when my kids grow up, they will be similar to what Ryan is."
