The LA Kings have signed defenseman Cole Krygier to a two-year entry-level contract beginning in the 2023-24 season worth an average annual value (AAV) of $837,500 through the 2024-25 season.
Krygier, 22, recently completed his fifth season with Michigan State University, serving as alternate captain, registering 16 points (10-6=16) in 38 games. His 10 goals led Michigan State defensemen and ranked tied for fourth among all NCAA blueliners. In 160 career NCAA games, Krygier accumulated 41 points (20-21=41) with 193 penalty minutes (PIM).
Originally drafted by the Florida Panthers in the seventh round (201st-overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft, Krygier played in parts of two seasons with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL prior to his collegiate career, tallying 23 points (6-17=23) in 95 games.
Krygier has a twin brother, Christian, who he played with at Michigan State for all five of his seasons (2018-23). Krygier's father, Todd, played parts of 10 seasons in the NHL from 1989-98 split between the Hartford Whalers, Washington Capitals and Anaheim Mighty Ducks organizations.
