The 22-year-old Roy (born March 1, 1995) is a 6-0, 200-pound native of Canton, Mich. who appeared in 42 games this season with Michigan Tech (NCAA), posting 26 points (5-21=26) and 29 penalty minutes. He led the team in assists and helped the Huskies earn an NCAA tournament spot where they fell to the top-ranked University of Denver in the Regional Semi-Finals.
A seventh-round (194th overall) selection of the Kings at the 2015 NHL Draft, Roy appeared in 115 games over three seasons with Michigan Tech, recording 55 points (12-43=55) and 125 penalty minutes. He set a career-high this season in points (26) and assists (21).
