Kings Notes:
The Kings enter tonight riding a 13-game home point streak (11-0-2), dating back to Feb. 11 (6-0 W vs. PIT). It is tied for the largest home point streak in franchise history with their previous 13-game home point streak set in the 1992-93 season (12-0-1-0, Oct. 10 - Dec. 8, 1992). Over those 13 games at Crypto.com Arena, the Kings have outscored their opponents 58-28 with a goals-for per game average of 4.46, the second-highest home average in the league during that time (since Feb. 11). Should the Kings collect a point tonight, it would extend their streak to 14 games and set a new franchise record.
The Kings skate into Crypto.com Arena having killed 20-consecutive penalties taken against Edmonton and have not allowed a power-play goal in each of their last seven regular-season games vs. the Oilers, dating back to Dec. 5, 2021. Should the Kings penalty killing units not allow a power-play goal tonight, it would mark ninth time the Kings have established a perfect penalty-killing streak of at least eight games against any one opponent.
LA Kings HC Todd McLellan won his 139th career game behind the Kings bench on Sunday, tying Terry Murray for the fourth-most wins by a Kings head coach in franchise history. A win tonight would move McLellan into sole possession of fourth place on the Kings HC all-time wins list.
The Kings have allowed two or fewer goals in 14 of their last 15 games, dating back to the beginning of March. Since March 1, no team has allowed fewer goals (29) or holds a lower goals-against per game (1.93) than the Kings.
The Kings power play ranks 4th in the NHL (25.3%).
The Kings penalty kill ranks 23rd in the NHL (75.7%).
The Kings are 3rd in faceoff win percentage (53.4%).
Oilers Notes:
The Oilers are coming off their best month in franchise history when it comes to wins, setting a new team record with 12 victories in the month of March.
The Oilers power play ranks 1st in the NHL (32.4%).
The Oilers penalty kill ranks 21st in the NHL (76.1%).
The Oilers are 15th in faceoff win percentage (50.7%).
Who to Watch:
Captain Anze Kopitar, who registered his 20th multi-point game of the season on Sunday, marking the 281st of his career to tie Dave Taylor for the fourth-most multi-point games in franchise history. With his two assists, Kopitar (391-744=1,135) surpassed Marian Hossa (525-609=1,134) for sole possession of 59th place on the NHL's all-time scoring list. Sitting at 68 points (26-42=68) this season, Kopitar can secure his eighth 70-point season with two more points. Only Marcel Dionne (12) and Luc Robitaille (11) have recorded more 70-point seasons in Kings history than Kopitar's current seven. With two more assists at Crypto.com Arena, the Kings captain will tie Dionne (412) for the most home assists in franchise history.
