Kings Notes:
Trevor Moore led the Kings past the Oilers in Game 3 with his first career Stanley Cup Playoffs overtime goal and fourth goal of his postseason career. Moore (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) is the first California-born player in NHL history to score a playoff overtime goal for a California-based team. Moore also joined Brooks Orpik (Game 2 of 2019 R1 & Game 6 of 2013 CQF), Auston Matthews (Game 4 of 2020 SCQ) and Jason Zucker (Game 3 of 2013 CQF) as the only California-born skaters to score a playoff overtime goal in league history.
Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty are both set to skate in their 43rd career home playoff game tonight, which will tie them with Dave Taylor (43) for the third-most home playoff games played in franchise history.
No Kings skater has recorded more hits this playoff series than Quinton Byfield (13).
The Kings have claimed each of their first two victories of a postseason via comeback for the fifth time in franchise history after also doing so in 2010 (CQF vs. VAN), 1992 (DSF vs. EDM), 1982 (DSF vs. EDM) and 1969 (QF vs. Oakland Seals).
The Kings power play ranked 4th in the NHL (25.3%) and 2-for-10 in Games 1 and 2.
The Kings were 3rd in faceoff win percentage (53.2%) during the regular season, but rank last among the 16 playoff teams in face-off percentage for the first two games (43.1%).
The Kings are 17-24 all-time in best-of-seven Game 3's, but have lost Game 3 in the First Round in each of their last two playoff appearances (2018 vs. VGK / 2022 vs. EDM)... The Kings are 1-4 in their last five playoff Game 3's at home...
Oilers Notes:
The Oilers are 25-23 all-time in best-of-seven series Game 4s, but are 1-8 in their last nine.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are the fifth and third-highest scoring players in postseason history through their first 40 post-season games... McDavid has 58 points in 40 games, while Draisaitl has 65 in his first 40.
The Oilers power play ranked 1st in the NHL (32.4%), setting the all-time NHL record for power play percentage in a season. Despite the record, the Oilers went 2-for-13 (15.4%) on the PP against the Kings in the regular season. Through three games, the Oilers are 4-for-8.
Who to Watch:
Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, who stopped 38-of-40 shots in Game 3 for his fifth career playoff win and second with the Kings. Through the first three games of this series, Korpisalo has made 108 saves on 116 shots for the second-most saves by a Kings goaltender through their first three games of a playoff year.
