Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Canucks are pleased to announce that alumni Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin and Roberto Luongo were selected to join the the Hockey Hall of Fame (HHOF) today. The former Canucks Captains (Henrik Sedin 2010-2018, Roberto Luongo 2008-2010) and Assistant Captain (Daniel Sedin 2010-2018) joined Daniel Alfredsson in the players' category for the HHOF's class of 2022.

"Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin and Roberto Luongo are so deserving of this honour," said Canucks President, Hockey Operations, Jim Rutherford. "All three played pivotal roles for the franchise during a time when the Canucks were one of the top teams in the NHL. Each were incredible leaders and ambassadors for the game. Getting to know Daniel and Henrik personally, it is easy to see why people speak so highly of their character and intelligence. They are tremendous people and we are lucky to have them on our staff".
"Before I arrived in Vancouver I did not know the Sedins personally, but I knew all about their incredible reputation both on and off the ice," said Canucks General Manager, Patrik Allvin. "Working closely with Daniel and Henrik for the past few months, I can see why they were so successful. Hard work, drive, determination, and dedication are a huge part of their DNA. They also show humility and a willingness to learn in order to make our team better each and every day. Congratulations to them both and Roberto Luongo as well".
The Sedins joined the Canucks organization at the 1999 NHL Draft when the club traded up to select Daniel at No. 2 and Henrik at No. 3 and quickly became franchise players. Henrik is the club's all-time leader in assists (830), points (1,070) and games played (1,330), while Daniel sits atop the Canucks' goals list (393) and ranks second in each of the other categories.
The Örnsköldsvik, Sweden natives spent their entire 18-year NHL careers with the Vancouver Canucks organization from 2000 to 2018. On the International stage, the Sedins represented their country for two decades, highlighted by a gold medal winning performance for Sweden at the 2006 Olympic Winter games in Turin. They were inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 2019, and on Feb. 12, 2020, the Canucks retired Henrik's No. 33 and Daniel's No. 22.
Known for their contributions on and off the ice, The Sedins were honored at the 2018 NHL Awards with the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, recognizing their leadership qualities and their humanitarian contributions in their community. Henrik previously received this distinction in 2016. The Sedin's have been the recipients of numerous NHL Awards including the Hart Memorial Trophy (2010, Henrik Sedin), Art Ross Trophy (2010, Henrik Sedin; 2011, Daniel Sedin), Ted Lindsay Award (2011, Daniel Sedin), and Presidents' Trophy (2011,2012).
Daniel and Henrik Sedin concluded their NHL careers on April 7, 2018. Henrik finished with a total of 1,070 points (240-830-1,070) in 1,330 games played and 78 points (23-55-78) in 105 career playoff games. Daniel finished with 1,041 points (393-648-1,041) in 1,306 NHL games and 71 points (25-46-71) in 102 career playoff games.
Luongo, spent eight seasons with the Canucks organization from 2006 to 2014, posting a 252-137-50 record in 448 games with the team. Following his second year with the Canucks, he was named the 12th captain in franchise history, becoming the first NHL goalie to serve as a team captain since Bill Durnan in the 1947-48 season.
He was the recipient of the William M. Jennings Trophy in 2011 and was twice named a Vezina Trophy finalist during his tenure in Vancouver.
Luongo was the starting goaltender for Team Canada at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he helped earn the team a gold medal at Rogers Arena.
Luongo finished with a 489-392-33-91 record in 1,044 career games with the Islanders, Panthers, and Canucks between 1999 and 2019.
