Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWA)

The Seattle Kraken and One Roof Foundation implemented a partnership with Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWA) to teach more than 60 preschoolers how to ice skate. Every week students from three of ReWA Early Learning Centers bus to the Kraken Community Iceplex for a Learn to Skate lesson. The goal of this of this 32-week program is designed to establish greater equity in ice skating and hockey by creating opportunities for kids from diverse and low-income families. At the end of 32 weeks, students from the program will have the opportunity to graduate into One Roof Foundations Financial Assistance program and continue on with youth skating or hockey programs at the Kraken Community Iceplex.

Financial Assistance

With the support of the One Roof Foundation, we are committed to addressing barriers to participation in ice sports. By creating a community that puts diversity, equity, and inclusion at the core of our effort to grow the game, we are expanding access to programs in our facility for all families. We are partnering with schools and community organizations to connect with low-income families and youth of color as part of a holistic strategy to build an equitable and inclusive hockey culture in the region.

Floorball

The Seattle Kraken is partnering with Title 1 Schools and youth focused non-profit organizations to provide Floorball or equipment and curriculum to kids across the Puget Sound region. Floorball is a great way to expose kids to the sport of hockey without the need for ice time or expensive equipment. The equipment donation allows schools to incorporate floorball into their physical education classes as well as start their own afterschool or summer programs around hockey.
