Goaltender Christopher Gibson, recently signed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Kraken, has been recalled from American Hockey League affiliate Coachella Valley. He was traveling to Calgary Tuesday to meet up with the team.
The Gibson move is an emergency recall with Martin Jones out of the lineup attending to a family matter. Jones did not travel with the team to Calgary. Joey Daccord, recalled from Coachella Valley when Philipp Grubauer was placed on the injured reserve (IR) list, will see his first NHL action this season getting the start in goal.

Gibson has played two games with the AHL Firebirds this season, including Friday in a home game at Everett, and appeared in 16 games for the former AHL affiliate Charlotte Checkers last season, posting a 7-5-2 record with a .907 save percentage.
The 29-year-old has appeared in 16 games with the New York Islanders (2015-2019) and Tampa Bay Lightning (2020-21) while predominantly playing in the AHL. His NHL career numbers are a 4-5-3 record with a .901 save percentage. A highlight is a 50-save night in first-ever NHL start with the Islanders in a victory that clinched a playoff spot in 2016.
Gibson was born and raised in Finland before he moved to Saskatchewan at age 15. He was a Los Angeles Kings second-round pick (49th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft. He signed with Toronto as a free agent in 2013 and was part of trade that sent him to NYI in 2015. He signed with Tampa Bay as a free agent in 2019 and was on a professional tryout in the Arizona Coyotes this fall.
