Lauzon Moved to Predators

The Kraken's first-ever NHL Trade Deadline activity continued with a surprise to most observers Sunday night. Defenseman Jeremy Lauzon, the 24-year-old defenseman selected from Boston's roster at the expansion draft, has been traded to Nashville for the Predators' 2022 second-round pick.
For July's NHL Draft, Seattle now has its first-round and second-round picks (both figure to be high in order), plus three more second-round selections from Nashville, Toronto (via Giordano-Blackwell trade) and Florida (by way of sending Calle Jarnkrok to Calgary, which previously traded for that pick).

"Jeremy brought a physical edge to our blueline and we are thankful for his contributions to our team," said Kraken GM Ron Francis. "We wish him well in Nashville."
The Sunday night trade makes it five picks in the first 64 draft slots, plus a first-round pick and three more second-round picks in 2023 (the Kraken pick plus those acquired in the Toronto and Calgary trades).
If you include 2024, Seattle now has 31 total picks over the next three drafts-10 more than the standard 21. While Kraken GM Ron Francis has not given up any of the team's own, he now has 11 picks in the first rounds from this summer's draft through 2024, plus five more in the third round.
For reference and reason for optimism for the Kraken's future, Francis drafted Carolina star scorer and two-way center Sebastian Aho in the second round in his previous role as GM for the Hurricanes. Plus, he drafted Kraken fan-favorite Morgan Geekie and solid NHL forward Warren Foegele (eight goals, 14 assists for Edmonton this season) in the third round.
Lauzon, who plays a physical game on the defensive end, logged a goal and five assists in 53 games with Seattle. Kraken coaches showed a lot of trust in his game, giving him top-six defensive minutes (and, at times, top-four minutes) most of the season with not many healthy scratches. He's played 129 regular-season games with the Kraken and Bruins, plus 13 playoff games with the Bruins.
