A look at the game “by the numbers.”
- By the numbers, this was a close one with Florida getting the slight edge in offensive creation with 53.88-percent of all 5-on-5 shot attempts and 51.32-percent of all shot quality.
- High danger chances were a difference maker with the Kraken creating 11 and allowing just six.
- Joey Daccord had 43 unblocked shots sent his way and he didn’t let a single one through on the way to the first shutout in his NHL career. The Panthers generated enough to have at least two goals and Daccord’s performance in net earned him the sixth quality start of the season.
- The Kraken penalty kill was perfect for the fourth straight game. In six minutes of time, a Florida power play that shoots more than any other team when playing up a skater had just four shot attempts – none of which were on target. Meanwhile, the penalty kill got a shot on goal of its own.
- The fourth line of Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Kailer Yamamoto, and Devin Shore didn’t just get two goals, they were the most effective in terms of tilting the ice in this game. In 6:24 of play, they created 64.3-percent of all shot volume and a whopping 83.8-percent of all shot quality.
- Yamamoto was also the game’s leader in individual shot quality and shots from the slot (3).
- Bellemare had the higest game score of all skaters (3.23) followed by Yamamoto, Daccord, Ryker Evans (who earned his first NHL point) and Brian Dumoulin. When all was said and done, only one Panthers player (Aaron Ekblad) cracked the top 10.
