A look at the game “by the numbers.”
- In 5-on-5 play, the Kraken eventually tilted the ice their way and ended up with 50.2 percent of all shot volume. They didn’t gain the advantage in shot quality, however, and finished with 41.0 percent of all expected goals.
- The third period was the single frame in which the Kraken had the offensive advantage.
- As expected, the Senators created lots of chances off turnovers with a 9-3 advantage over Seattle.
- The Kraken kept the second-best power play in the league off the scoresheet through three attempts and extended their perfect streak to fourteen straight penalty kills. Seattle is also perfect on the kill across their last five games – they have only allowed one power play against when the away team (vs. Minnesota Oct. 12).
- Brandon Montour provided some oomph in his return after welcoming his daughter to the world. He led all Kraken skaters with seven individual shot attempts.
- Jared McCann had six shot attempts and led in individual shot quality.
- Philipp Grubauer prevented .73 more goals than he should have based on the quality he faced (per Evolving-Hockey.com).
- The two best lines for the Kraken were Yanni Gourde’s line (with Tye Kartye and Brandon Tanev) which had 64 percent of all shot volume and 78 percent of all shot quality in 6:55 of ice time.
- Another solid trio was the re-configured Chandler Stephenson line (with Andre Burakovsky and Jade Schwartz) which had 83.3 percent of shot volume and 76 percent of all shot quality in 4:39 of time.
- The Kraken were shut out for the second time this season.
