SEATTLE, Wash. -- August 4, 2021 -- Today, the Seattle Kraken (@SeattleKraken) announced they have agreed to terms with forward Alexander True (@alexandertrue17) to a one-year, two-way contract ($750,000 AAV).

"Alex brings some size and skill to our team at the center position," said Seattle Kraken General Manager Ron Francis. "He's young and has a successful hockey history in Seattle, scoring some big goals playing in the WHL with the Thunderbirds. We're looking forward to him continuing that success with our organization."
The 24-year-old who was selected at the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft, comes to Seattle from the San Jose Sharks organization who signed him as a free agent in 2018. During his two seasons with the Sharks (2019-20, 2020-21), True notched five assists in 19 regular-season games. The Copenhagen, Denmark native played 203 games over four seasons (2017-18 to 2020-21) with the San Jose Barracuda in the American Hockey League (AHL) where he totaled 128 points (59 goals, 69 assists).
True returns to Seattle after playing three seasons with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Western Hockey League (WHL) prior to joining the NHL. The six-foot-five, 192-pound forward recorded 84 points (45 goals, 39 assists) in 169 regular-season games and 36 points (20 goals, 14 assists) in 44 postseason games (2014-15 to 2016-17) with the Thunderbirds, and helped Seattle win the 2017 WHL Championship. That same season, he was named the team's "Most Dedicated Player."
Internationally, True played one season with Rungsted Ishockey (Denmark) and represented Denmark in the U-20 World Junior Championships in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The Seattle Kraken will play their first game in 69 days on Oct. 12 at Vegas.
