Just looking at the schedule, this game was supposed to be a big challenge. Colorado came to Seattle with two previous wins over the Kraken, the best record in the Western Conference, and tied for the most points in the League. But, that's why you play the game.

The Kraken came out confident. Yanni Gourde's line took on the task of quieting the Avs' top line that includes Nathan MacKinnon and succeeded. The forwards were backed by the Adam Larsson-Vince Dunn pairing that also tilted the ice Seattle's way. Kole Lind opened the scoring in the first two minutes. Four minutes later, Jordan Eberle added a goal. And before the period was over, Gourde would be rewarded for his body of work by bouncing in a puck net-front for what would become the game-winning score.
Colorado would add two goals, but did not mount a significant attack until late in the third and, as he had the majority of the game, Philipp Grubauer stood tall and turned away 57 of 59 pucks sent his way.
Let's look at the game "by the numbers."
