Seattle came into Dallas after one of the more complete performances of the season in Denver against the Avalanche. The hope was the consistency of that game would carry over against the Stars, but it was not to be. Dallas controlled the first period in terms of offensive quality and took advantage of power-play opportunities to build up a 3-1 lead.
