One:
  • There are few if any rink-long rushes from NJD star defenseman Dougie Hamiliton or other Devils.
+ Kraken forwards are disrupting passes in the offensive and neutral zones.
+ Kraken defensemen are closing the gaps between Devils approaching the Seattle net, basically not leaving much time and space for NJD forwards like Jack Hughes to maneuver.
Two:

The Kraken power play was 0-for-3 on the night with two shots on goal in six minutes of man-advantage Monday. The power play was clicking early on this trip, especially in terms of quality scoring chances. Power play "quarterback" Vince Dunn being out "day to day" doesn't help, but someone needs to step up to get the power play back on track. Thinking Jared McCann or Mark Giordano here. Veteran forward Jordan Eberle is overdue, whether on the power play or 5-on-5.

Three:

Updated after Kraken roster moves at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
All eyes will no doubt be on which line Yanni Gourde centers Tuesday night. Unless, of course, Kraken fans switch focus on the defensive end where No. 3 goalie Joey Daccord makes his first start for Seattle. Daccord was strong in camp; his opportunity is now, grab it and don't give up the rebound.
Gourde has worked the most with Jared Schwartz and Jordan Eberle. You might see him on the power play or penalty-kill (he's a shorthanded goal specialist). He promised "energy" in pre-game media scrum. Expect that and more. Gourde will be a fun, noticeable player to watch all year.
