First, Carson Soucy continued the trend of defensemen activating in the offensive zone to bury the puck and tie the game. Less than two minutes later, after Jordan Eberle drew a hooking call, Beniers continued his confident play and scored the first Kraken power-play goal in nine games. It was a memorable goal, for sure. Vince Dunn sent the puck into the dangerous area of the ice, allowing McCann to get a stick on it and change the direction of the shot. Nico Daws made an initial stop, but Beniers' instinct and hockey sense brought him net-front where he had an easy finish for the go-ahead score. As a result, going into the third period, Seattle's likelihood to win was now up to 75.71 percent.
New Jersey did tie the game in the third period, and overtime offered no resolution. So, on to the shootout we went. Six skaters across both teams would take a shot but only one converted and that was Ryan Donato. After picking up the puck at center ice, Donato weaved his way down the right side before slowing the play, faking an attempt to the left and deking to his backhand for the tap in winner.
Let's look at the game "by the numbers."
