Kraken the Code: Forwards

Finally! The first ever Kraken roster is in place. There's going to be plenty to learn about each of the 30 newest members of the Seattle family, but when it comes to what each player can do on the ice, there's more than just points scored, shots blocked, or number of pucks saved to consider.
Let's push past the traditional box scores and look a little bit deeper at each forward's game:

FORWARDS

Mason Appleton Right Wing | 25 years old [ Center | 24 years old ]
True knows Seattle from his time with the Thunderbirds; now, it will be time for all of hockey to get to know his game more. True has just 19 games of NHL play on his resume, and in limited time, has held his ground in terms of balancing out the ice and attempting to create on his own with just under eight shots per 60 minutes of play.
Kole Lind [ Left Wing | 22 years old ]
Lind is another player with limited NHL time, but looking at his Hockey Prospecting profile, there is still an above-average chance he finds a spot in the NHL with the probability holding at 53-percent at the end of last season.
Jared McCann [ Left Wing | 25 years old ]
There are different ways to create offense and one of the most deadly can be off the rush - or beating your defense to get a good scoring chance. McCann was second on the Penguins' roster behind only Kasperi Kapanen in rush shots per 60 minutes of play (10.67). Need to know more? According to Evolving-Hockey.com, of all the inaugural Kraken players, McCann has the highest Goals Above Replacement (GAR) value at 17.9.
Brandon Tanev [ Left Wing | 29 years old ]
Tanev can do a lot of things, but what might be the most interesting is how he uses his speed. Corey Sznadjer tracks a multitude of player data and using his "playing styles," Tanev classifies as a rush specialist with his above average rate of producing shots in transition. His speed also helps him draw penalties. What helps spark those rushes is how often he takes the puck away from his opponents; he earned one of the highest rates of takeaways at 5-on-5 among forwards in the league last season.
Carsen Twarynski [ Left Wing | 23 years old ]
The former Flyer played just nine games last season between the NHL and AHL, making a recent sample of play more challenging to evaluate. Thus far, Twarynski saw fourth-line minutes and appeared to lean more on his defensive play.
