TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning honored Dan Doyle Sr. and Dan Doyle Jr. as the 47th Lightning Community Heroes this season during the first period of Game 2 versus the Boston Bruins. The Doyle's, who received a $50,000 donation from the Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Heroes program, will donate the money to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation and Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

Dan Doyle Sr. and Dan Doyle Jr. are committed to giving back to the community in both their personal and professional lives. Since the duo co-founded Dex Imaging in 2002, they've successfully fulfilled their commitment to giving two-thirds of their company's profits to employees and local nonprofits, allowing each of their company's offices across the country to dictate where their charitable funds go.
For over 40 years, the generosity of Dan Doyle Sr. has impacted countless Tampa Bay area nonprofits and causes. That same selfless spirit was passed on to his son, who now carries the family's philanthropic torch proudly. The Doyle's have given generous donations to many nonprofits including Berkeley Preparatory School, Jesuit High School, Academy Prep, Morton Plane Mease Hospital, R'Club, PARC, National Pediatric Cancer Foundation and Special Operations Warrior Foundation. The two are always willing to contribute when there is a need in the community and have created a legacy of community support in their family.
Dan Doyle Sr. and Dan Doyle Jr. become the 318th Lightning Community Heroes since Jeff and Penny Vinik introduced the Lightning Community Hero program in 2011-12 with a $10 million, five-season commitment to the Tampa Bay community. Through this evening's game, in total, the Lightning Foundation has granted $16 million to more than 400 different nonprofits in the Greater Tampa Bay area. During the summer of 2016, the Vinik's announced that the community hero program will give away another $10-million over the next five seasons.
