The Lightning completed one of the most dominant Stanley Cup Final performances of recent memory, finishing off the Canadiens with a 1-0 win in Game 5 at Amalie Arena on Wednesday.
And just as they were for long stretches of the series, the Bolts were in complete control throughout Game 5.

All the offense Tampa Bay needed came off the stick of Ross Colton at the 13:27 mark of the second period.
Out of a scrum along the wall, the puck was worked free to Ryan McDonagh, who then cycled it to David Savard on the right wing. It looked like Savard would shoot from the right circle, but he instead sent a feed to Colton at the front of the net for a tap in goal that put Tampa Bay in front.
Tampa Bay's defense didn't give the Canadiens much all night long, limiting their time and space in the offensive zone. All 22 shots they managed to get through were turned aside as Andrei Vasilevskiy recorded his fifth shutout of the 2021 Playoffs. The win also marks the fifth-straight series that Vasilevskiy has delivered a shutout in a clinching scenario.
Vasilevskiy won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of the entire postseason. He was certainly at his best in the Stanley Cup Final, holding the Canadiens to just eight goals in the five games.
