Lightning's fourth line sparks win over Vancouver

The Lightning extended their point streak to 10 games with a 5-2 win over the Canucks in Vancouver on Tuesday night.
And it was a line combination that was formed right before the game that led the way for the Bolts.

With Ryan Callahan scratched from the lineup with an upper-body injury right before puck drop, the Bolts called on Danick Martel to take his place on the fourth line with Cedric Paquette and Adam Erne.

After Nikita Kucherov and Tyler Motte exchanged goals midway through the first period, Paquette gave the Bolts the lead with his eighth goal of the season. With Erne starting the breakout, Martel sent a beautiful backhand feed to Paquette who fired a one-timed shot past Anders Nilsson.
Erne then scored the eventual game-winner with just under nine minutes to play in the second period. Dan Girardi made a play at the point to keep the puck in the offensive zone and Paquette fired a shot that Erne was able to redirect home as he was stationed right in front of Nilsson.
Tempers flared later in the period with Yanni Gourde given a 10-minute misconduct in a scrap with Antoine Roussel. Martel and Paquette also found themselves in the middle of a few altercations, picking up a combined 11 penalty minutes in the second period.
With things calmed down at the start of the third, the Canucks pulled within a goal on Christopher Tanev's second goal of the year. Steven Stamkos responded with an insurance marker late in the period to give Tampa Bay breathing room down the stretch. Ondrej Palat added an empty net goal with less than two minutes to play to give the Lightning a 5-2 advantage.

On a night where the penalty boxes were consistently full, the Lightning's penalty kill stepped up. The Bolts killed off all six penalties they took on Tuesday, including 53-second 5-on-3 sequence in the first period.
