The Lightning's new road jersey remains relatively unchanged, with the only exceptions being the removal of "Tampa Bay" from the crest and the elimination of the laces from the neckline, as is also the case with the home sweater. The Lightning have chosen to leave the lettering and numbers unchanged.
"When the Lightning began its complete brand transformation in 2010, the words bold, classic and iconic were used to inspire our new logo," Lightning Chief Executive Officer Steve Griggs said. "Now seven years later, we feel the time has come to remove the 'Tampa Bay' from our road uniform for a more clean and consistent look, leaving simply our trademark lightning bolt logo. In addition, along with our great partners at adidas, we're extremely excited to invite Lightning fans to celebrate with us by receiving a free 25th anniversary patch when they pre-order their new adidas jersey."
The Lightning's home jerseys will feature the team's 25th anniversary patch on the upper right chest for the entire 2017-18 season. The road sweaters will feature the soon-to-be-announced NHL All-Star patch in the same location up until All-Star Weekend, at which point it will switch to the 25th anniversary patch.
New adidas home and road jerseys will be on display and available for pre-ordering starting tomorrow, Saturday, June 24, exclusively at Tampa Bay Sports locations inside AMALIE Arena and International Plaza in Tampa. Jerseys are expected to arrive in store and for online purchase prior to the team's pre-season opener in September and will retail for $179.99, considerably less than recent years.
Fans who pre-order their jersey in-store by Friday, July 7 will receive a free 25th anniversary patch, courtesy of adidas. Those outside of the Tampa Bay area who register online at TampaBaySports.com by July 7 will be eligible to receive a free 25th anniversary patch when they complete their order in September.
At the forefront of innovation, design and craftsmanship, the new ADIZERO Authentic NHL jersey takes the hockey uniform system and hockey jersey silhouette to the next level by redefining fit, feel and lightweight construction.
