DET@TBL: Kucherov scores to set club record

Tampa Bay forward Nikita Kucherov established a new franchise record for single season scoring Saturday night at AMALIE Arena.

Kucherov scored a goal at 11:56 of the first period as the Lightning host the Detroit Red Wings to close out a four-game homestand and earned his 109th point of the season to break the previous franchise high of 108 points set by Vincent Lecavalier during the 2006-07 season.

DET@TBL: Kucherov scores to set club record

Kucherov needed just 69 games to make team history and still has 13 games in the regular season remaining to push his point total higher.
"Kuch is an unbelievable player," Lecavalier said following Kucherov breaking his record. "He is so dominant and talented that it is no wonder he broke my Lightning record for most points in a season. I'd like to personally congratulate Nikita for the accomplishment and wish him and the team further success as they approach the playoffs."
Kucherov, who tallied 100 points in 2017-18, is the first Lightning player ever to record multiple 100-point seasons. Kucherov already set the Lightning franchise mark for assists in a single year earlier this season and has 77 assists currently.
Kucherov tops the NHL for scoring, assists and power-play scoring (43 power-play points). The Russian right wing has led the League for scoring continuously since December 28 and is aiming to become the second player in team history to win the Art Ross Trophy, joining Martin St. Louis, who won the award twice, in 2003-04 (38-56-94 in 82 GP) and 2012-13 (17-43-60 in 48 GP).
