Halpern gets his day with the Cup

The Stanley Cup is back in Tampa as it winds down it's second-straight summer with the Lightning.
On Saturday it was assistant coach Jeff Halpern's turn with hockey's holy grail.

Friends and family gathered at the Halpern's home in Tampa for a ball hockey tournament organized by the Lightning's Community Hockey department.

After breakfast and a photo op with the Cup in the backyard, the party moved out to the front, where three ball hockey rinks had been constructed with the Tampa Police Department blocking off the street.
Halpern himself got in on the action, with five of the teams made up of his friends and family. To offer his thanks for their work, Halpern invited local police officers to field a team and round out the participants.
With the games underway, the Cup migrated from the backyard to the street where it watched the final rounds. In the end it was Team National League - featuring the Lightning's coaching staff - that claimed the championship and celebrated with the Cup.

Halpern's day with the trophy didn't stop there. After the tournament wrapped up, it made the trip across the bay the Don CeSar on St. Pete Beach. After spending the afternoon on the water, Halpern returned home for a private dinner at the house with the Cup in tow.
