After a slow start saw the Predators take a 1-0 lead into the second period, Point and Kucherov each scored power play goals in the middle frame to put the Lightning in front. Stamkos added his team-leading 25th goal of the season at 11:31 of the third for the eventual game-winner.
Unfortunately, it wasn't all good news for Tampa Bay, as Erik Cernak sustained an injury that forced him to miss the final two periods.
The Bolts now return to Tampa to open a three-game homestand that begins on Tuesday against Ottawa.
Scoring Summary
1st Period
NSH 1, TBL 0
8:20 Tanner Jeannot (18) - Philip Tomasino, Colton Sissons - PPG
Nashville scored the lone goal of the first period on a power play at 8:20. Andrei Vasilevskiy made a pad save on Philip Tomasino's initial shot, but Tanner Jeannot was able to get positioning on Jan Rutta in front of the net and put home the rebound.
2nd Period
NSH 1, TBL 1
0:58 Brayden Point (20) - Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos - PPG
The Bolts answered with a power play goal of their own to level the score in the opening minute of the second period. Nikita Kucherov found Brayden Point open in the slot, but Mikael Granlund reached in from behind which popped the puck up into the air. Instead of waiting for the puck to settle, Point batted it out of midair and past Juuse Saros.
TBL 2, NSH 1
6:18 Nikita Kucherov (9) - Victor Hedman, Steven Stamkos
Tampa Bay went back on the power play less than six minutes later, and Kucherov wired home a shot from the right circle to give Tampa Bay the lead. Just as Alex Killorn swept through the shooting lane to disrupt Saros' vision, Kucherov picked out the top corner with a wrist shot.
3rd Period
TBL 3, NSH 1
11:31 Steven Stamkos (25) - Cal Foote, Alex Killorn
Steven Stamkos drifted free from traffic in the slot towards open space at the left circle. From the point, Cal Foote teed up Stamkos for a one-timer that beat Saros to the near post.
TBL 3, NSH 2
12:29 Filip Forsberg (27) - Mikael Granlund, Ryan Johansen - PPG
Nashville quickly answered that Stamkos score with a power play goal to get right back within one. Just seven seconds into the power play, a loose puck came free for Filip Forsberg in the slot and he quickly fired it past Andrei Vasilevskiy.
