After taking forwards with their first three selections in the 2020 NHL Draft, the Tampa Bay Lightning went for a defenseman with the final selection of the Third Round, taking Jack Thompson from the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League.

In his second season with Sudbury, Thompson played 63 games with Sudbury in 2019-20, scoring 13 goals and recording 32 points.
The 6-foot, 178-pound Thompson is an 18-year-old right-shot defenseman.
He was rated the 60th North American skater for the 2020 Draft by NHL Central Scouting.
