With the 160th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, the Tampa Bay Lightning selected goaltender Nick Malik from KooKoo of Liiga, the top professional hockey league in Finland.

Malik is 20 years old and appeared in 34 games with KooKoo last season. He recorded a .922 save percentage, the fourth-highest in the league, and added four shutouts with a 1.97 goals against average.
The 6-foot-2, 174-pound netminder played in the IIHF World Junior Championship with Czechia in two consecutive years. In the 2021 World Juniors, Malik appeared in four games and recorded a 2.90 GAA paired with an .890 save percentage.
Malik is the son of longtime NHL defenseman Marek Malik, who finished his NHL career with the Lightning, skating in 42 games during the 2008-09 season and picking up five assists. He finished his career with 691 career NHL games.
