TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning signed defenseman Jack Thompson to a three-year, entry-level contract beginning with the 2021-22 season, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.

Thompson, 19, skated in 18 games with Surahammars IF in Sweden, posting nine goals and 18 points to go along with 14 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 178-pound defenseman also appeared in one game with the Syracuse Crunch during the 2020-21 regular season, making his pro debut on May 15 and notching an assist.
The Courtice, Ontario native has skated in 115 career OHL games over two seasons with the Sudbury Wolves, recording19 goals and 48 points to go along with 38 penalty minutes. Thompson led all Wolves defensemen in 2019-20 for goals (13), assists (19) and points (32).
Thompson was originally drafted by the Lightning in the third round, 93rd overall, at the 2020 NHL Draft.
