Edmonds played in Sweden from 2016-21 before coming over to Canada and joining Kingston for the 2021-22 season. A rare 21-year-old rookie, Edmonds led the Frontenacs with 113 points in just 68 games. His 79 assists led the OHL and helped earn him the Jim Mahon Memorial Trophy as the top-scoring right winger.
He also added 34 goals during the regular season, tied for third-most on the team. Kingston went on to play in 11 playoff games and Edmonds recorded 11 points with six goals and five assists.
As a 21-year-old, Edmonds is eligible to go straight to the AHL for the 2022-23 season. The 5-foot-11 winger weighs 185 pounds and is a right-handed shot.
"It's certainly an unreal feeling," said Edmonds. "I kind of was hoping, actually, that I would get picked by Tampa, so I couldn't be more happy to get picked by such a great organization."
Edmonds was rumored to have met with over 20 teams over the past year. With his age and experience, he's as close to a pro-ready player as you will get in the third round of the NHL Draft. He has great hands and is strong in transition with the ability to create space and play both power play and penalty kill.
"I actually talked to them (Tampa Bay) quite a bit throughout the season and then at the Combine I had a really positive meeting with them, so I kind of had somewhat of an inclination that I might go to them," Edmonds said. "It was really awesome to hear my name called by them."
