The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the club has acquired forward Matt Lorito from the New York Islanders in exchange for defenceman Jordan Schmaltz.

Lorito, 29, has appeared in 50 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) this season, recording nine goals and 14 assists. The Oakville, Ontario has registered 210 points (80 goals, 130 assists) in 275 career AHL games between the Albany Devils, Grand Rapids Griffins and Bridgeport. He has 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) in 35 career Calder Cup games, capturing the 2017 Calder Cup as a member of the Griffins.
Lorito was originally signed to an entry level contract by the Detroit Red Wings on July 1, 2016.
