Following his distinguished 21-year NHL playing career, Doan has held various key management roles. Beginning in 2017, Doan spent three years in the National Hockey League's hockey operations department, collaborating with club-level executives and the NHL's Competition Committee.
In 2021, Doan joined the Arizona Coyotes' front office as Chief Hockey Development Officer, providing support to the club's business and hockey operations departments for two seasons.
Most recently, the 46-year-old served as Hockey Canada's Assistant General Manager for the Men's National Team, winning gold at the 2023 IIHF World Championship. Among other Hockey Canada roles, Doan also served as General Manager for Canada's Men's Olympic Team at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China, the 2022 IIHF World Championship and the Spengler Cup in 2021 and 2022.

After originally being drafted by Winnipeg in the first round (seventh overall) in the 1995 NHL Draft, Doan recorded 972 points (402 goals, 570 assists) through 1,540 career regular season NHL games with the Coyotes franchise. The Halkirk, AB native served as Arizona's captain for 13 seasons and remains the Coyotes' all-time leader in games played, goals, assists, points, power-play goals (128) and game-winning goals (69) while ranking second in penalty minutes (1,353).
Doan's NHL accolades include being named the recipient of the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award in 2012 and the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 2010. He was also selected as a two-time NHL All-Star (2004 and 2009).
In international play, Doan represented Canada as a player at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, the 2006 Olympic Winter Games and at six IIHF World Championships (1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009) where the team medaled in five of six tournaments (two gold, three silver).
