The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the club has loaned goaltender Garret Sparks to the Toronto Marlies (AHL).
Sparks, 24, was recalled from the Marlies on an emergency basis on March 15 and did not appear in a game for the Maple Leafs. In 35 games with the Marlies this season, he is 24-8-2 with a 1.78 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage. He has appeared in 113 career AHL games, all with Toronto, and holds a 73-27-5 record alongside a 2.14 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. He was originally drafted by the Maple Leafs in the seventh round (190th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
The Maple Leafs return to action on March 20 at 7:30 p.m. when they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena.
