The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Garret Sparks from the Toronto Marlies (AHL) on an emergency basis.
Sparks, 24, is 24-8-2 in 35 appearances with the Marlies this season, while posting a 1.78 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage. He has appeared in 113 career AHL games, all with Toronto, and holds a 73-27-5 record alongside a 2.14 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. Sparks appeared in 17 games for the Maple Leafs during the 2015-16 season and had a 6-9-1 record with a 3.02 goals-against average and a .893 save percentage. He was originally drafted by the Maple Leafs in the seventh round (190th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
The Maple Leafs return to action tonight when they visit the Buffalo Sabres at the KeyBank Center at 7:00 p.m.
