Liljegren, 23, skated in 61 regular season games with the Maple Leafs during the 2021-22 season, recording 23 points (five goals, 18 assists), and appeared in two playoff games for the club. The Kristianstad, Sweden native has registered 24 points (five goals, 19 assists) in 74 regular season games with the Maple Leafs. In 148 regular season games with the Toronto Marlies (AHL), Liljegren registered 73 points (11 goals, 62 assists) while adding nine assists in 33 AHL postseason games and won a Calder Cup in 2018 with the club.
Liljegren was a key member of the Marlies during the club's Eastern Conference Final run in the 2018-2019 postseason where he recorded five assists in 13 playoff games. The following season, the defenceman made his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs on January 18, 2020 and was named to the playing roster for the North Division at the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic.
Liljegren tied for 11th place in Calder Trophy voting this season.
Liljegren was originally selected by Toronto in the first round (17th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft.
