Villeneuve, 19, appeared in two games with the Toronto Marlies during the 2020-21 campaign. The Sherbrooke, Que. product also played in 33 games with the Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL) last season where he recorded 20 points (3G, 17A), and added six points (1G, 5A) in six playoff games. Villeneuve marked a QMJHL career high 58 points (9G, 49A) with the Sea Dogs during the 2019-20 campaign. He paced QMJHL defencemen in assists and points that season and was named to the QMJHL Second All-Star Team. The CHL announced on Wednesday that Villeneuve's club, Saint John, will host the 2022 Memorial Cup. Villeneuve has recorded 97 points (13G, 84A) in 152 career QMJHL games.
Villeneuve was originally selected by Toronto in the fourth round (122nd overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
