NHL Unveils First 33 of 100 Greatest NHL Players

The NHL unveiled the first 33 players - who played predominantly from 1917 to 1966 - from its 100 Greatest NHL Players list on Sunday at the 2017 NHL Centennial Classic™.
All 33 players were recognized by the NHL prior to puck drop at the Centennial Classic between the Maple Leafs and Red Wings. The 2017 Centennial Classic begins a year-long Centennial celebration for the NHL, while the Maple Leafs continue to celebrate their Centennial Season, which began this past October.

Among the 33 players unveiled by the NHL are 15 players who were members of the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 50-year period. The 15 players are: Syl Apps, Andy Bathgate, Max Bentley, Johnny Bower, Turk Broda, King Clancy, Charlie Conacher, Tim Horton, Red Kelly, Ted Kennedy, Dave Keon, Frank Mahovlich, Dickie Moore, Jacques Plante and Terry Sawchuk.
The NHL will unveil the remaining 67 players at All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, which takes place Jan. 25-27.
On Oct. 14, 2016, the Toronto Maple Leafs unveiled The One Hundred - a list commemorating the 100 greatest players to play for the Maple Leafs franchise in its first 100 years. Twelve of the 33 players named as part of the NHL's 100 Greatest NHL Players list are also part of The One Hundred recognizing the 100 greatest Maple Leafs.
