Cheat sheet
Mark Stone, RW - INJ.* -- He missed nearly the final month of the regular season with an ankle injury but was better than a point per game (62 points in 58 games) when healthy. Stone ranked fourth in the NHL in even-strength points per game last season (0.84; minimum 50 games) behind Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid (1.02), Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon (0.86) and Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand (0.85). The 26-year-old signed a one-year contract Aug. 3 to remain with Ottawa and could be a fantasy bargain in middle rounds.
Matt Duchene, C* -- He had a slow start (six points in first 24 games) after being acquired from the Colorado Avalanche on Nov. 5. But Duchene was dominant down the stretch with 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists), 10 power-play points and 111 shots on goal over his final 44 games. He'll be Ottawa's No. 1 center to start the season and would play with Stone and rookie Brady Tkachuk in a best-case scenario. Like Stone, Duchene, 27, could have extra motivation in a contract year, has high upside in a points-only fantasy league and would see his value spike with a trade.

Brady Tkachuk, LW -- The No. 4 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft signed an entry-level contract with Ottawa on Aug. 13 and will compete for a roster spot this season. The Senators are weak at left wing, giving the 18-year-old a chance to land in the top six and potentially on the first line with Duchene and Stone. If Ottawa trades Stone and/or Duchene, don't be surprised to see Tkachuk find chemistry with a rookie center in either Colin White or Logan Brown. Tkachuk likely will be overshadowed by his team's concerns in fantasy drafts, but had 31 points (eight goals, 23 assists) in 40 games as a freshman at Boston University last season and could be a dark horse for the Calder Trophy.
Thomas Chabot, D -- The 21-year-old could be fantasy-relevant over a full season with power-play duties to himself after Erik Karlsson was traded to the San Jose Sharks. Chabot played on the first unit with Karlsson down the stretch last season and had 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists), including eight on the power play, in 63 games. He played for Canada at the 2018 IIHF World Championship and will be the foundation of Ottawa's rebuild along with Tkachuk, making each of them a sneaky late-round pick in a one-year league and much more valuable in keeper/dynasty formats.
Other players with fantasy upside in late rounds or off waiver wire: Colin White, C\\; Craig Anderson, G; Logan Brown, C; Bobby Ryan, LW/RW
