1. Connor Hellebuyck's save percentage

Hellebuyck, who was voted winner of the Vezina Trophy as the best goalie in the NHL last season, was second in save percentage (.922) and even-strength save percentage (.927) among the 22 goalies who played at least 40 games, behind Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins in each category (.929 save percentage, .939 even-strength save percentage). His performance was even more impressive considering his workload. Hellebuyck led the NHL in shots faced (1,796) and saves (1,656), and he was tied for first in games (58) with Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens.

2. Shot attempts percentage

The Jets tied the Chicago Blackhawks for 21st in the NHL with a shot attempts percentage of 48.5 percent last season, and their minus-190 SAT differential (3,347-3,157) was 21st. Forward Nikolaj Ehlers led them with a plus-145 SAT differential; center Andrew Copp had the next best at plus-57, but two of Winnipeg's top forwards, Mark Scheifele (minus-111) and Patrik Laine (minus-124), were the two worst. Hellebuyck was able to offset the puck-possession issue at times last season, but the Jets can help relieve pressure on the goalie by scoring more after they finished 17th in the NHL at 3.00 goals per game.

3. Penalty-kill percentage

Winnipeg was 22nd in the NHL on the penalty kill at 77.6 percent last season, and Hellebuyck's .875 power-play save percentage was tied for 17th with Semyon Varlamov of the New York Islanders (minimum 30 games). But the Jets were aided by discipline, averaging the least amount of time shorthanded per game (3:56) and finishing second in the NHL in times shorthanded per game (2.45) behind the Columbus Blue Jackets (2.41). It's worth noting that in 10 games with Dylan DeMelo from Feb. 20-March 11 after acquiring the defenseman in a trade from the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 18, the Jets ranked third in the NHL on the penalty kill (90.9 percent).
