Tampa Bay Lightning key statistics

1. Brayden Point's points per 60

The center's 2.73 points per 60 minutes of 5-on-5 ice time were 11th in the NHL last season among those to play at least 50 games, and his 3.87 points per 60 in the postseason were second behind Colorado Avalanche forward Andre Burakovsky (5.21; minimum 10 games). Point's 51 even-strength points (17 goals, 34 assists) were tied for 13th during the regular season, and his 26 even-strength points (10 goals, 16 assists) were tops in the postseason. Point's 1.65 assists per 60 (minimum 50 games) were tied for 16th with Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone, and his 1.08 goals per 60 were tied for 40th with two others, including teammate Steven Stamkos.

2. Andrei Vasilevskiy's wins

The goalie led the NHL with 35 wins in 52 games last season. His .925 even-strength save percentage was tied for fourth among the 22 goalies who played at least 40 games, and his .917 save percentage was tied for fifth among that group. Vasilevskiy's success carried over into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. His 18 postseason wins led the NHL, his .927 save percentage was second to Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens (.936), and his .902 power-play save percentage was best among the eight goalies who played at least 10 games. With at least 35 wins and a .917 save percentage each of the past three seasons, Vasilevskiy has been a model of consistency for Tampa Bay.

3. Shot attempts percentage

The Lightning's shot attempts percentage of 52.2 percent ranked fifth in the NHL last season, and their SAT percentage of 56.3 percent in the postseason was second to the Golden Knights (58.9 percent). Tampa Bay out-attempted its opponents 3,129-2,863 for a plus-266 SAT differential, sixth during the regular season, and its plus-324 SAT differential in the postseason was first. Forward Nikita Kucherov's plus-180 SAT differential led Tampa Bay, and Point's plus-142 was second. One concern for the Lightning is that defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, who signed a three-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 9, led them at the position with a plus-136 SAT differential. Without Shattenkirk, Tampa Bay will need to find a way to generate additional shot attempts from their defensemen.
