Heritage Classic festivities announced for Sabres-Maple Leafs game Sunday

NEW YORK / TORONTO - The sold-out 2022 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic™ outdoor game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, March 13, at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, will honor members of the Canadian Women's Hockey Team gold-medal performances in the 2021 World Championship and 2022 Winter Olympics and feature performances by Alessia Cara, Willow and Lindsay Ell. The game will be broadcast live at 4 p.m. ET on TNT, Sportsnet and TVA Sports.

The opening ceremony will begin with a land welcome led by Giima/Chief Stacey Laforme of the Mississaugas of the Credit and Chief Mark Hill of Six Nations of the Grand River.
The formal pregame ceremony will begin with the on-field arrivals of the Maple Leafs and Sabres. Lindsay Ell, country music singer-songwriter and host of Canada's Got Talent, will perform the Canadian and U.S. national anthems, accompanied by Toronto Sign Language interpreters Azad Najfi and Matt Tell. The U.S. and Canadian flags will be presented by five members of Hamilton's own Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada. The opening ceremony will conclude with a flypast featuring four CT-155 Hawk Jets from 15 Wings Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, piloted by Maj. Hassan "Hash" Naqvi, Maj. Julian Daintree, Capt. Charlie Porter, Capt. Yoo-Hean "Alien" Liew and Capt. Daegan Banga.
To celebrate Ontario's strong youth hockey roots, youth players representing the Timbits Minor Hockey Program in Brantford will skate on an auxiliary rink throughout the game.
The first intermission presented by Ticketmaster will feature a performance by GRAMMY and Juno Award winner Alessia Cara. Superstar pop-punk songstress and TikTok heavy-hitter Willow will perform on the TikTok Tailgate Stage. Her performance will be livestreamed on @NHL on TikTok starting at 2:45 p.m. ET.
During the second intermission presented by Scotiabank, members of the Canadian Women's Hockey Team will be honored on-field for their gold-medal performances at the 2022 Winter Olympics and the 2021 World Championship.
This year's matchup will mark the sixth NHL Heritage Classic™, a game with roots dating back to Nov. 22, 2003, when the Edmonton Oilers hosted the Montreal Canadiens in the first NHL regular-season outdoor game. The Maple Leafs-Sabres matchup will be the 35th outdoor NHL game and third one this season. Buffalo will be the first U.S.-based club to play in the NHL Heritage Classic™.
