Connor Bedard became the first player in the Canadian Hockey League this season to reach 50 goals and 100 points, getting each in his 40th game.
Bedard achieved the feats during Regina's 6-5 loss to Prince Albert on Friday, when he had two goals and two assists.
It was Bedard's 10th game with at least four points -- he made it 11 when he had six points (goal, five assists) in a 6-3 win against Medicine Hat on Wednesday -- and he's been held without a point just twice in 43 games this season. With 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) during a six-game point streak, he's averaging 2.58 points per game this season (111 points; 52 goals, 59 assists in 43 games).
Tyson Hinds can understand the despair WHL defensemen must feel when Bedard jumps on the ice.
Hinds plays for Sherbrooke in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League but got to know Bedard when they were teammates with Canada at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship.

But goal No. 49, which came with 30 seconds remaining in the first period, was a bit different. Finding himself with time and space behind Prince Albert's goal, Bedard flipped the puck off the back of the head of Hildebrand and into the net.
"You never know what he's going to do so he's tough to play against," Hinds said.

Hinds said he can't give much in the way of advice to WHL players trying to defend Bedard.
