NYR@PHI: Fox and Buchnevich make blocks on empty-net

Adam Fox made a kick save, then a beauty.

The New York Rangers defenseman showed off some serious goaltending skills, denying the Philadelphia Flyers of two sure goals late in their game at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday.
A third shot ticketed for the back of the net was lifted over a sliding, sprawling Fox and knocked aside by forward Pavel Buchnevich.
With the Flyers up a goal with less than a minute left, and Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin on the bench for the extra skater, the puck went into the Flyers offensive zone and Philadelphia hunted for an empty-net goal that would put the game away.
But Fox prevented that from happening, first hopping in the crease and kicking out Travis Konecny's backhand attempt.
After the Rangers failed to clear, Flyers forward Scott Laughton thought he had the one that would do it, but Fox made a stunning stick save, batting the puck away with his stick out of midair.
Konecny, however, corralled the rebound and got into perfect shooting position as Fox slid out to try to block the shot in a more traditional way for a defenseman. When Konecny lifted the puck up, Buchnevich had his temporary goaltender's back, skating in to make a save.
Unfortunately for the Rangers Fox's stops did not lead to the game-tying goal, and Philadelphia claimed a 2-1 victory.
