FLA@VGK, Gm1: Hill robs Cousins in 2nd period

It's a good thing Adin Hill did his pregame stretches.

During Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday, the Vegas Golden Knights goalie had to reach as far as he could -- and still needed every inch of his stick -- to keep things tied against the Florida Panthers.

Just one minute into the second period at T-Mobile Arena, Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk looked to be in position to get a shot on net. After Hill moved to his left to defend, Tkachuk decided not to shoot and instead dumped the puck off to teammate Nick Cousins, who was on Hill's right side.

Because of Hill's positioning, Cousins had an empty net in front of him.

But Hill wasn't going to make things easy.

Hill made the necessary last-second adjustments, reached back with his paddle and got just enough of the puck with his stick to keep it from crossing the goal line.

Vegas defenseman Alex Pietrangelo then poked the puck away and out of danger.

Hill's save may have taken Golden Knights fans back to the 2018 Final, when then-Capitals goalie Braden Holtby made a similar save in Game 2 against Vegas.

Adin Hill and Braden Holtby have near-identical saves

Both saves took place in Vegas, but the Golden Knights faithful will undoubtedly remember Hill's save a bit more fondly.

It's only Game 1, but dare we say… save of the series?
